Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem

I took pictures in the street, in the bustling markets, in the suburbs and inside the cafés. Sometimes I would catch a curious glimpse of something or somebody, other times, my subjects would pose self-confidently. Almost all of my encounters with Israelis were marked by their openness and humour, their interest in my photography and their fantastic hospitality. The country’s many stray cats also purred nonchalantly into my camera. As a photographer, I sometimes have to overstep social boundaries, get a little closer to people and situations than you normally would in order to snap a good picture. In Israel, I never had any problems because of this. My work was made easy for me, and I would like to express my gratitude to all those who let themselves be seen through my lens. I felt very safe. Thank you! (Translated by Georg Felix Harsch)
